What We Believe
Confessional Heritage
As a Protestant church rooted in the historic Christian faith, we joyfully affirm the great creeds and confessions that have shaped the church across the centuries. In particular, we confess the Apostles’ Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Chalcedonian Definition as faithful summaries of biblical teaching, and we stand within the stream of the Protestant Reformation, affirming the Five Solas: salvation by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, according to Scripture alone, to the glory of God alone.
As a Baptist church within the Reformed tradition, we gladly receive the Second London Baptist Confession of Faith (1689) and the Abstract of Principles (1858) as trustworthy and helpful summaries of biblical doctrine. In our reading of the Bible, we are persuaded that a progressive covenantal framework best reflects the unfolding unity of God’s redemptive plan centered on Jesus Christ. At the same time, we rejoice in the broader Reformed and evangelical heritage and seek fellowship with all who hold to the gospel of Christ.
As a cooperating Southern Baptist church, we also affirm the Baptist Faith and Message (2000) as a faithful summary of biblical doctrine and gladly partner with other Southern Baptist churches in the work of gospel ministry, missions, and theological education. While confessions serve as helpful guides, we affirm that the Bible alone is the final authority for faith and practice.
Contemporary Commitments
As an evangelical, Bible-believing church, we affirm the full authority, trustworthiness, and sufficiency of Holy Scripture for faith and life. We believe the Bible is God’s inspired Word and the final standard for what we believe and how we live. We also maintain the doctrinal and ethical commitments of the Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy (1978), the Danvers Statement on Biblical Complementarity (1987), and the Nashville Statement on Biblical Sexuality (2017)
In short, this means that we hold to historic Christian teaching on humanity, marriage, and the family, affirming God’s good design for men and women and the call to holiness for all people. In a confused and broken world, we seek to speak the truth in love, bearing faithful witness to Christ with humility, clarity, and compassion.
Mission and Vision
We believe that Jesus Christ reigns supreme over all creation and that the purpose of the church is to glorify Him in all things. God is honored as His people are conformed to the image of His Son, built up in holiness, and sent out in love. For this reason, our mission is to glorify Jesus by growing in holiness and loving generously.
We understand disciple-making to be the central mission of the church. Through the faithful ministry of the Word, the ordinary means of grace, and life together in the body of Christ, we seek to equip the saints for the work of ministry. As we grow in maturity, our lives increasingly reflect the character of Christ in obedience, humility, and self-giving love.
This ministry flows outward in both word and deed. We are committed to proclaiming the gospel clearly and boldly, while also pouring ourselves out in love for the needs of others. As followers of Jesus, we seek to serve our neighbors with compassion, generosity, and mercy, addressing both spiritual and physical needs as a visible expression of Christ’s reign and goodness.
In all of this, our confidence rests not in our efforts, but in the grace of God at work among us. We trust that the Spirit uses faithful obedience, loving service, and gospel witness to glorify Christ and to build His church for the good of the world and the glory of God.
