I thought it would be very appropriate for the days in which we live, all the uncertainty, all the madness and craziness in our lives and in our world, that we remember who our God is. His majesty, glory, holiness, righteousness, and we apply it to our circumstances today, take a deep breath and trust Him.

This is a beautiful prayer by Saint Patrick. Read it. Soak it in. Rest in your heavenly Father and the accomplished work of Christ for your salvation. There will a short format for you to consider praying through this evening in the end.

St. Patrick’s Breastplate

I arise today
Through a mighty strength, the invocation of the Trinity,
Through belief in the Threeness,
Through confession of the Oneness
of the Creator of creation.

I arise today
Through the strength of Christ's birth with His baptism,
Through the strength of His crucifixion with His burial,
Through the strength of His resurrection with His ascension,
Through the strength of His descent for the judgment of doom.

I arise today
Through the strength of the love of cherubim,
In the obedience of angels,
In the service of archangels,
In the hope of resurrection to meet with reward,
In the prayers of patriarchs,
In the predictions of prophets,
In the preaching of apostles,
In the faith of confessors,
In the innocence of holy virgins,
In the deeds of righteous men.

I arise today, through
The strength of heaven,
The light of the sun,
The radiance of the moon,
The splendor of fire,
The speed of lightning,
The swiftness of wind,
The depth of the sea,
The stability of the earth,
The firmness of rock.

I arise today, through
God's strength to pilot me,
God's might to uphold me,
God's wisdom to guide me,
God's eye to look before me,
God's ear to hear me,
God's word to speak for me,
God's hand to guard me,
God's shield to protect me,
God's host to save me
From snares of devils,
From temptation of vices,
From everyone who shall wish me ill,
afar and near.

I summon today
All these powers between me and those evils,
Against every cruel and merciless power
that may oppose my body and soul,
Against incantations of false prophets,
Against black laws of pagandom,
Against false laws of heretics,
Against craft of idolatry,
Against spells of witches and smiths and wizards,
Against every knowledge that corrupts man's body and soul;

Christ to shield me today
Against poison, against burning,
Against drowning, against wounding,
So that there may come to me an abundance of reward.

Christ with me,
Christ before me,
Christ behind me,
Christ in me,
Christ beneath me,
Christ above me,
Christ on my right,
Christ on my left,
Christ when I lie down,
Christ when I sit down,
Christ when I arise,
Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me,
Christ in every eye that sees me,
Christ in every ear that hears me.

I arise today
Through a mighty strength, the invocation of the Trinity,
Through belief in the Threeness,
Through confession of the Oneness
of the Creator of creation.

As you pray, let us pray according to A.C.T.S.

  1. Adoration

Adoration

“The purpose of prayer is not for the disciple to bring information to God; the purpose of prayer is for the disciple to experience intimacy with God.”

David Platt

Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth!
    Serve the Lord with gladness!
Come into his presence with singing!

Know that the Lord, he is God!
    It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

 Enter his gates with thanksgiving,
    and his courts with praise!
Give thanks to him; bless his name!

 For the Lord is good;
    his steadfast love endures forever,
and his faithfulness to all generations.

Psalm 100

Let us tonight adore the living God, by acknowledging He is and what His character tells us about Him. Take time to recognize His:

  • Foreknowledge
  • Supremacy
  • Sovereignty
  • Immutability
  • Holiness
  • Omnipotence
  • Omniscience
  • Omnipresence
  • Faithfulness
  • Goodness
  • Patience
  • Grace
  • Mercy
  • Love
  • Kindness
  • Wrath
  • Justice
  • Eternality
  • Infiniteness
  • Transcendence

Confession

“A person who is not concerned about having his present sins cleansed has good reason to doubt that his past sin has been forgiven. A person who has no desire to come to the Lord for continued cleansing has reason to doubt that he ever came to the Lord to receive salvation.”

John MacArthur

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.”

1 John 1:9-10

Let us now confess the sins that we have committed in:

  1. Thought
  2. Word
  3. Deed
  4. Ignorance

Thanksgiving

“Would you know who is the greatest saint in the world?  It is not he who prays the most or fasts the most, it is not he who lives the most, but it is he who is always thankful to God, who receives everything as an instance of God’s goodness and has a heart always ready to praise God for it.”

William Law

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.”

Colossians 3:16

The list of things we are to be thankful for is limitless. Consider everything from the moment you were conceived in the womb; your childhood, early adult life, the raising of your family, health concerns as you have aged, oh, I think you get the point.

Thank the God who has given and continues to give and sustain even now, in your life.

Supplication

“The prevailing idea seems to be, that I come to God and ask Him for something that I want, and that I expect Him to give me that which I have asked. But this is a most dishonouring and degrading conception. The popular belief reduces God to a servant, our servant: doing our bidding, performing our pleasure, granting our desires. No, prayer is a coming to God, telling Him my need, committing my way unto the Lord, and leaving Him to deal with it as seemeth Him best.”

A.W. Pink

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 4:6-7

Oh, dear Christian, pour out your heart before your God tonight. Tell Him all that is on your heart. Let Him hear your groans, crying. Let Him see your tears and laughter. He is not a God who is far away, He is very near, even now. The God of the universe wants to spend time with you. Not just one or two days a week, but every day, throughout the day, for as many days as He has ordained for you.

If you have specific prayer requests either share them on our Facebook group or use the Prayer Request link at the top of the page to submit them. We get the privilege to pray one for another.
