What’s Happening? – May 15, 2026

Last week, we took a moment to celebrate Mother’s Day and give thanks for the beautiful, costly, life-giving work of motherhood. We also recognized that Mother’s Day can carry complicated emotions for many, including grief, longing, loss, and loneliness. That is part of why the church’s celebration of motherhood must be more than sentimental. We do not simply honor mothers with words once a year. We want to be the kind of people who come alongside women, children, and families with tangible love, steady encouragement, and gospel-shaped care.

This week, we have a special opportunity to put that love into action. The Tri-County Pregnancy Center will be hosting a Spring Tea Party Fundraiser on Saturday, May 23, at First Methodist Church of Williston, located at 213 W. Noble Ave., Williston, FL 32696. The morning will include a time of mixing, mingling, and registration from 10:00–10:45 AM, with brunch beginning promptly at 11:00 AM. There will also be a silent auction, hat contest, ticket drawings, laughter, games, door prizes, and more. A donation of $30 per person is kindly requested, and guests are encouraged to “grab your top hats, bonnets, and gloves” for a fundraiser like no other.

As Christians, our support for pregnancy centers is rooted in the dignity God gives to every human life. The unborn child is not invisible to God, and neither is the mother. Both are image-bearers. Both are worthy of care. Scripture repeatedly calls God’s people to defend the weak, uphold the vulnerable, and show mercy to those in need. That includes the child in the womb, but it also includes the woman who may feel afraid, alone, or unsupported. A truly Christian vision of life is never cold or abstract. It is personal, compassionate, and practical.

Pregnancy centers serve an important role in our communities because they meet women in moments that can feel overwhelming, frightening, and deeply uncertain. Many women who choose life for their child are not surrounded by strong support systems. Some are facing financial pressure, relational instability, fear of rejection, or the simple exhaustion of wondering how they will make it through the next season. To love our neighbor well means we do not merely say, “Choose life,” and then walk away. We say, “We will help you carry what comes next.”

That is why ministries like Tri-County Pregnancy Center matter. They offer free pregnancy testing and a compassionate voice of care and reason for women who may be receiving overwhelming news, helping them slow down, understand the life of the child they are carrying, and consider their next steps with clarity, dignity, and support. But they don’t stop there, they also provide real support for women who are choosing to carry their children, often in difficult circumstances. They offer encouragement, resources, guidance, and care in a season when many women need someone to look them in the eyes and say, “You are not alone.” This is the kind of work the church should gladly support, not because it is politically useful, but because it is profoundly neighborly. It is one small way we can bear witness to the love of Christ, who drew near to the weak, the weary, the overlooked, and the burdened.

So let’s remember that this is not simply about an event on the calendar. It is about the kind of church we are called to be. We want to be a people who honor motherhood not only after the baby is born, but before. We want to be a people who cherish children not only in principle, but in practice. We want to be a people who stand with women who need help, hope, and community. Please pray for Tri-County Pregnancy Center and consider attending the Spring Tea Party Fundraiser on May 23, as they seek to bring practical help, lasting hope, and the love of Christ to women and children in our community.

Online Giving

It’s easy for even the best intentions to get lost in the busyness of a Sunday morning, and sometimes what we planned to give simply slips through the cracks. One simple way to stay consistent in worshipful generosity is to give online through Redeemer Baptist Church online giving page, where you can give one time or set up monthly recurring donations. This allows your giving to remain faithful and intentional, not dependent on the distractions of a given week, but rooted in a steady rhythm of trust and stewardship as you support the work God is doing through our church.

Upcoming Events

Special Business Meeting – Sunday, May 17th after Morning Service

We need everyone to vote on something important, so look out for some information this week to review then next week after morning worship we will have a very short special business meeting to vote on this change.

Business Meetings often feel formal or unexciting, but they are actually an important part of our life together. They give us the opportunity to celebrate God’s work, affirm new members, and seek wisdom as we plan for the future of our church.

Ladies Night – This Tuesday, May 19th at 6:00 PM

Ladies, you’re invited to gather together for dinner. Bring a dish to share with others. This will be an evening of encouragement and growth as you walk through Respectable Sins by Jerry Bridges.

This is a rich and convicting study that helps uncover the “acceptable” sins we often overlook and brings them into the light of the gospel. Come ready for honest conversation, encouragement, and time together in the Word.

The Bridge

In last week’s sermon, we saw the hardness of Jonah’s heart in full view. Jonah obeyed God outwardly, but inwardly he was still resisting the mercy of God. He preached to Nineveh, but he did not love Nineveh. He wanted God’s word to be true when it came to judgment, but he was angry when God’s mercy proved true as well.

This week, we will slow down and sit with Jonah in that anger. We will also look at another prophet who ended up under a plant, exhausted, afraid, and asking God to take his life. Jonah and Elijah are very different men in many ways, but both stories show us the patience of God with His weary, wounded, and often hard-hearted children.

God does not excuse sin, but neither does He abandon His servants when their hearts are tangled up with fear, pride, despair, and confusion. He draws near. He questions. He exposes. He teaches. And in Jonah’s story, we will see again that the Lord is not only patient with pagan cities that need mercy. He is patient with His own children, even when we are slow to share His heart.

Weekly Life Together

Wednesday Night Dinner, Kids, and Prayer

Join us each Wednesday evening as we gather for a shared family meal and time together.

Sunday Morning Bible Study and Worship

Sundays at 9:30 is our Bible Study hour. From children to adults, each class is focused on helping us grow in understanding of God’s word and encouraging one another to live out our faith.

Then at 10:45, we come together for corporate worship as one body. Our aim is simple: to humble ourselves before the throne of Jesus our King and to joyfully worship Him side by side as families. Kids and adults all share in this time as we sit under the same truth and fix our eyes on Christ together.

Breaking Bread Groups

Throughout the week, we gather in homes to discuss God’s Word and to pray for each other as we do life together. We currently have groups that meet on Sunday afternoons and Thursday nights. If you are interested in joining or starting a group, please talk to someone in leadership.
