This Sunday is the Fifth Sunday of August, and we have a lot to celebrate together. We will begin the morning with the joy of baptism, then after worship we will gather for Dinner on the Grounds. It is a beautiful picture of life in the church: celebrating new life in Christ, serving one another, welcoming families, and then sitting down together around the table. God is at work among us, and there is plenty happening at Redeemer right now. So praise Him for what He is doing, pray for what is ahead, and ask where He may be calling you to jump in.

One of those opportunities begins next week as our Upward Flag Football season gets underway. Our first practice is Thursday, September 3, and this season we have 22 students from 17 families participating. Throughout practices and games, we will be walking the players through the life of Joseph and reminding them that even when life is messy, God is faithful and at work.

Please pray for these players, their families, and our coaches. Jesus told His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few.” Pray that the Lord would send workers into His harvest, and then ask whether you might be part of the answer.

We are still looking for another coach, sideline assistants, and plenty of willing hands. You do not have to know football. You can help keep kids hydrated, keep score, direct families where to park, or simply bring a lawn chair and cheer for somebody else’s kid. Sometimes ministry looks like learning a child’s name, welcoming a nervous parent, or handing out a cold bottle of water. Small acts of love can open doors for the gospel.

September also turns our attention beyond our own church field to the mission field all across Florida. Throughout the month, we will receive the Maguire State Mission Offering, which supports church planting and other gospel work throughout our state. Florida continues to grow rapidly, and many communities still need healthy churches faithfully preaching Christ and making disciples.

There is something encouraging about seeing these two things side by side. We are praying for God to use a football field here in our own community while also helping send church planters into neighborhoods and towns we may never personally visit. The setting changes, but the mission does not: make Christ known.

So as September begins, pray for our Upward families. Pray for church planters across Florida. Give generously as the Lord leads. And above all, be willing to ask a dangerous little question: “Lord, where do You want me to serve?”

This Sunday, let’s celebrate Baptism together and plan to stay after the morning worship service for our Fifth Sunday Dinner on the Grounds! These meals are a wonderful opportunity to slow down, share a table, and enjoy time with the church family beyond our usual Sunday morning conversations.

Come ready for good food, warm fellowship, and the chance to get to know someone a little better. Whether you have been part of Redeemer for years or have only recently begun attending, we would love for you to join us!

Business Meeting – September 6 at 6pm

All Redeemer members are invited to join us for a Business Meeting on Sunday, September 6th at 6:00 PM as we continue working through our proposed Statement of Faith together.

This is important work for the life of our church. A Statement of Faith is more than a document we keep on file, it helps us clearly say what we believe, what we teach, and what will guide us as a congregation in the years ahead. We want to take the time to work through it carefully, ask good questions, and seek unity around the truths we confess together.

Please make plans to be there. Your presence, questions, and participation matter as we prayerfully consider how to express the faith we share.

Maguire State Missions Offering

Every September Florida Baptists join together for the Maguire State Mission Offering. This year’s theme is “Immeasurably More,” and every dollar given through the offering goes directly toward planting new churches in Florida through Send Network Florida.

Florida is growing rapidly, and every new neighborhood, apartment complex, and community represents people who need to hear the good news of Jesus. We may never meet the church planters or sit in the churches our gifts help launch, but we can stand beside them through prayer and generous giving.

Pray for God to raise up faithful pastors, establish healthy churches, and use our churches together to make Christ known all across Florida. The statewide goal is $1 million, and every dollar collected goes straight to church planters.

Fourth Watch – Fridays – 0400

Every Friday morning at 4 AM, men gather for Fourth Watch, a time to seek the Lord before the noise and responsibilities of the day begin.

There’s no breakfast, no entertainment, and no elaborate program. We’ll open the Bible, talk honestly, and spend serious time in prayer for four things. For the Lord’s guidance, for our own hearts, for one another, and for our families. Bring your Bible. Come looking for the Lord.

Fourth Watch is open not only to the men of Redeemer, but to Christian men throughout our community who want brothers who will encourage them, challenge them, and help them keep watch over the things God has entrusted to them.

Food Pantry Needs

Our food pantry allows us to respond when families in our church and community find themselves facing an unexpected need. While you are at the grocery store, or placing your next pickup/delivery order, please consider adding a few extra shelf-stable items. Canned vegetables, soups, pasta, rice, cereal, peanut butter, canned meat, boxed meals, and other basic staples are always helpful.

A Simple Way to Give Faithfully

Giving is one of the ways we worship the Lord, trust His provision, and support the ministry He has entrusted to our church. Of course, Sunday mornings can be full. Between conversations, children, serving, singing, listening, and getting out the door, it is easy for even good intentions to get crowded out. Through our online giving page, you can give a one-time gift or set up recurring monthly giving. This helps make generosity a steady and prayerful rhythm. Thank you for giving faithfully, generously, and joyfully as we seek to glorify Christ, cultivate holiness, and love generously together.

The Bridge

Last Sunday, Jesus reminded us that following Him is not about squeezing a little more religion into an already crowded life. He is not a patch for the places where we feel worn, and He is not simply one more practice to add to the schedule. When the Bridegroom comes, everything changes. The question is no longer, “How can I become more religious?” but, “What does it look like for my whole life to belong to Jesus?”

That question follows us into this Sunday’s passage. Jesus and His disciples are walking through the grainfields on the Sabbath, and once again the religious leaders are watching, measuring, and questioning. But Jesus refuses to let the conversation remain about rule keeping. He points beyond the Sabbath itself to the One standing in front of them: “The Son of Man is lord even of the Sabbath.”

That means this Sunday is about more than learning the right Christian position on Sabbath keeping. It is an invitation to consider whether we are actually finding our life, our rest, and our freedom in Christ. Many of us know how to fill our weeks with work, responsibilities, church activities, and even good spiritual disciplines while still carrying the exhausting burden of trying to prove ourselves. Jesus offers something better. He calls weary people to stop building their identity on what they accomplish and to trust the Lord who provides for them.

So come Sunday ready not merely to study another passage, but to hear the voice of Jesus calling us again: Follow Me. Trust Me. Rest in Me. The Lord of the Sabbath is not looking for people who have mastered the rules. He is calling people who are ready to place their whole lives in His hands.

Weekly Life Together

Wednesday Night Dinner, Kids, and Prayer

Join us each Wednesday evening as we gather for a shared family meal and time together.

Sunday Morning Bible Study and Worship

Sundays at 9:30am is our Bible Study hour. From children to adults, each class is focused on helping us grow in understanding of God’s word and encouraging one another to live out our faith.

Then at 10:45am, we come together for corporate worship as one body. Our aim is simple: to humble ourselves before the throne of Jesus our King and to joyfully worship Him side by side as families. Kids and adults all share in this time as we sit under the same truth and fix our eyes on Christ together. Check out this playlist of some of the music that we will sing together in worship.

Breaking Bread Groups

Throughout the week, we gather in homes to discuss God’s Word and to pray for each other as we do life together. We currently have groups that meet on Sunday afternoons, as well as Tuesday and Thursday nights. If you are interested in joining or starting a group, please talk to someone in leadership.
