What’s Happening – July 3, 2026

As we head into Independence Day weekend, we have a good opportunity to thank God for the many blessings we enjoy in this country. We should not take lightly the freedoms we have, the sacrifices that have been made, or the responsibility we carry to seek the good of our neighbors. Gratitude is right. Prayer is right. Faithful citizenship is right.

At the same time, our deepest hope is not found in any nation, government, election, constitution, court, or military strength. We are not anti-government. Scripture teaches us to honor governing authorities, pray for those in leadership, and live as peaceable citizens. But we also want to be clear: government can never do what only King Jesus can do. Only Jesus can forgive sin. Only Jesus can reconcile us to God. Only Jesus can make dead hearts alive. Only Jesus can build a kingdom that cannot be shaken.

So this weekend, we can celebrate with gratitude without confusing our country with the kingdom of God. We can wave flags, enjoy fireworks, thank God for freedom, and still confess that our highest allegiance belongs to Christ alone. As we celebrate, let’s do so as thankful citizens of this country and faithful ambassadors of a better kingdom.

In light of this, don’t forget that this evening, we will have the joy of participating in the Williston parade, we will have a vehicle in the parade, and we will be walking alongside it, passing out candy and flyers for Upward Flag Football. I hope it will be a simple, cheerful way for us to love our community, be present with our neighbors, and represent Christ with joy. If you are planning to walk or ride with us in the parade, we are meeting at Williston Booster Stadium at 4pm. The parade starts at 5pm.

Upcoming Events

Business Meeting – This Sunday – Following the Service

We will have a short business meeting to vote in new members, get some important updates, and make sure we’re all on the same page. If you are a member, please stay with us and help us handle the business of the church faithfully.

Men’s and Ladies Breakfasts – Next Saturday, July 11th at 9am

Mark your calendars and come hungry! Our monthly Men’s and Ladies Breakfasts are coming up on Saturday, July 11 at 9am.

The men will meet at the church, where there will almost certainly be more breakfast meat consumed than any doctor would officially recommend. But more importantly, we will open God’s Word together and encourage one another as we seek to grow as godly men who follow Christ faithfully in our homes, church, and community.

Meanwhile, the ladies will gather at the Sexton’s house for a wonderful morning of food, fellowship, prayer, and encouragement. There may be quiche involved, which already sounds much more refined than whatever is happening at the men’s breakfast, but the real joy is the time spent building one another up in Christ.

These monthly breakfasts are simple, meaningful opportunities to connect, laugh, pray, study, and grow together. We would love for you to join us!

Back to School Bash – Saturday, August 8th – 9am-Noon

Mark your calendars! During the event, we will also be holding Flag Football evaluations, but the morning will include much more than that. We’ll have food, fun, and a backpack giveaway as we help families get ready for the new school year.

We would love your help making this a blessing to our community. We are collecting new backpacks and school supplies so that we can fill them and give them away during the event. Items like pencils, crayons, notebooks, folders, glue sticks, paper, and other basic classroom supplies would all be appreciated.

Early Registration Ends on Sunday!

A Simple Way to Give Faithfully

Giving is one of the ways we worship the Lord, trust His provision, and support the ministry He has entrusted to our church. Of course, Sunday mornings can be full. Between conversations, children, serving, singing, listening, and getting out the door, it is easy for even good intentions to get crowded out.

That is one reason online giving can be such a helpful tool. Through our online giving page, you can give a one-time gift or set up recurring monthly giving. This helps make generosity a steady and prayerful rhythm rather than something that depends on remembering in the middle of a busy weekend. Thank you for giving faithfully, generously, and joyfully as we seek to glorify Christ, cultivate holiness, and love generously together.

The Bridge

Last Sunday, we saw Jesus bringing light to the darkness and preaching the good news that God welcomes sinners. That announcement is not merely information to be considered. It is good news that demands a response.

Jesus does not proclaim the nearness of the kingdom and then leave people unchanged. He calls sinners to repent, believe, and follow Him. That is exactly what we see next as Jesus walks beside the Sea of Galilee and calls Simon, Andrew, James, and John. These men are not invited to add Jesus as one more interest in their already busy lives. They are called to leave their nets, follow Him, and become fishers of men.

This is where the message of the kingdom becomes deeply personal. If Jesus is the King, then His word carries authority. If His gospel is true, then our lives cannot remain the same. The call to repent and believe is also the call to rise, follow, and reorder everything around Him.

This Sunday, we will see that following Jesus is not reserved for a special class of Christians. It is the basic shape of Christian life. The King who brings good news also calls disciples, and His call is still going out today: “Follow me.”

On a personal note, I would also like to ask you to pray for Teresa and me as we travel to Virginia over the next week. Please pray for safe travel, sweet time with family, and that the Lord would refresh us and guide our steps while we are away. We are thankful for our church family and grateful to know that we are being remembered in prayer.

Weekly Life Together

Sunday Morning Bible Study and Worship

Sundays at 9:30am is our Bible Study hour. From children to adults, each class is focused on helping us grow in understanding of God’s word and encouraging one another to live out our faith.

Then at 10:45am, we come together for corporate worship as one body. Our aim is simple: to humble ourselves before the throne of Jesus our King and to joyfully worship Him side by side as families. Kids and adults all share in this time as we sit under the same truth and fix our eyes on Christ together.

Breaking Bread Groups

Throughout the week, we gather in homes to discuss God’s Word and to pray for each other as we do life together. We currently have groups that meet on Sunday afternoons, as well as Tuesday and Thursday nights. If you are interested in joining or starting a group, please talk to someone in leadership.

At Redeemer Baptist Church our mission is to Glorify Jesus by Growing in Holiness and Loving Generously. Please leave a quick Google review and like or follow us on social media. It’s a small thing that helps more people in our community find us.
