What’s Happening – August 21, 2026
There is a lot to praise God for right now at Redeemer. This morning, another group of men gathered before sunrise for Fourth Watch, opening the Word, praying together, and encouraging one another to keep watch over our hearts, our brothers, and our families. At the same time, we are watching another ministry season take shape as Upward Flag Football registration comes to a close tomorrow. God has already brought children and families through our doors, and now we are praying for the people who will help us love them well.
That means there is also an opportunity to step in. We are still praying for another coach, some sideline assistants, and plenty of willing hands to help with everything from keeping kids hydrated to keeping score, showing families where to park, or simply bringing a lawn chair and cheering for somebody else’s kid. You do not have to know football to make a difference. Sometimes ministry looks like learning a child’s name, welcoming a nervous parent, or handing out a bottle of water.
Also, next Sunday is the Fifth Sunday of August, and we will have the joy of celebrating baptism together before gathering for Dinner on the Grounds. What a beautiful picture of the life of the church: people showing up, serving one another, welcoming families, celebrating new life in Christ, and then sitting down together around the table. There is plenty happening at Redeemer right now, so praise God for what He is doing, pray for what is ahead, and ask where He might be calling you to jump in.

Food Pantry Needs
Our food pantry allows us to respond when families in our church and community find themselves facing an unexpected need. While you are at the grocery store, or placing your next pickup/delivery order, please consider adding a few extra shelf-stable items. Canned vegetables, soups, pasta, rice, cereal, peanut butter, canned meat, boxed meals, and other basic staples are always helpful.
Fourth Watch – Fridays – 0400

Every Friday morning at 4 AM, the men will gather for Fourth Watch, a time to seek the Lord before the noise and responsibilities of the day begin.
There’s no breakfast, no entertainment, and no elaborate program. We’ll open the Bible, talk honestly, and spend serious time in prayer for four things. For the Lord’s guidance, for our own hearts, for one another, and for our families. Bring your Bible. Come looking for the Lord.
Fourth Watch is open not only to the men of Redeemer, but to Christian men throughout our community who want brothers who will encourage them, challenge them, and help them keep watch over the things God has entrusted to them.
Fifth Sunday Baptism and Potluck Dinner on the Grounds – August 30th after the Morning Worship Service

Mark your calendar and plan to stay after the morning worship service for our Fifth Sunday Dinner on the Grounds! These meals are a wonderful opportunity to slow down, share a table, and enjoy time with the church family beyond our usual Sunday morning conversations.
Come ready for good food, warm fellowship, and the chance to get to know someone a little better. Whether you have been part of Redeemer for years or have only recently begun attending, we would love for you to join us!
A Simple Way to Give Faithfully
Giving is one of the ways we worship the Lord, trust His provision, and support the ministry He has entrusted to our church. Of course, Sunday mornings can be full. Between conversations, children, serving, singing, listening, and getting out the door, it is easy for even good intentions to get crowded out. Through our online giving page, you can give a one-time gift or set up recurring monthly giving. This helps make generosity a steady and prayerful rhythm. Thank you for giving faithfully, generously, and joyfully as we seek to glorify Christ, cultivate holiness, and love generously together.

The Bridge

Last Sunday, we found Jesus in a place that made the religious people uncomfortable: sitting around a table with tax collectors and sinners. Levi had heeded the call, “Follow me,” and almost immediately his home was filled with the kinds of people everyone else had learned to avoid. The scribes wanted to know why Jesus would associate with people like that, and His answer went straight to the heart of the gospel: “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.” Before we move on, hold onto that picture one more time. Jesus is not repelled by sinners who know they need Him. He comes near. He calls them. He sits at their table. The question for us is not whether we are respectable enough to belong there, but whether we are willing to admit that we need the Physician too.
But that meal raises another question. If Jesus is truly from God, why does following Him look so different from what everyone expects religious devotion to look like? That is exactly where Mark takes us next. People notice that the disciples of John and the Pharisees are fasting, while Jesus’ disciples apparently are not. So they ask, essentially, “Why aren’t your people doing what religious people are supposed to do?” Jesus answers with the picture of a wedding feast, a new patch on an old garment, and new wine that cannot simply be poured into old wineskins.
This Sunday, we are going to see that Jesus did not come merely to make us a little more religious, polish up our old habits, or patch the weak spots in the life we were already living. The arrival of the Bridegroom changes everything. Jesus is not an accessory we add to an otherwise unchanged life. He brings something new, and that will not always fit comfortably inside our old categories, assumptions, and expectations.

Sunday Morning Bible Study and Worship
Sundays at 9:30am is our Bible Study hour. From children to adults, each class is focused on helping us grow in understanding of God’s word and encouraging one another to live out our faith.
Then at 10:45am, we come together for corporate worship as one body. Our aim is simple: to humble ourselves before the throne of Jesus our King and to joyfully worship Him side by side as families. Kids and adults all share in this time as we sit under the same truth and fix our eyes on Christ together.
Breaking Bread Groups
Throughout the week, we gather in homes to discuss God’s Word and to pray for each other as we do life together. We currently have groups that meet on Sunday afternoons, as well as Tuesday and Thursday nights. If you are interested in joining or starting a group, please talk to someone in leadership.
At Redeemer Baptist Church our mission is to Glorify Jesus by Growing in Holiness and Loving Generously. Please leave a quick Google review and like or follow us on social media. It’s a small thing that helps more people in our community find us.
