What’s Happening – July 10, 2026
By the time you read this, Teresa and I will be in Virginia visiting family for a few days. We are grateful for the chance to get away, spend time with family, and catch our breath, but we will miss being with you on Sunday.

Of course, I know it is still technically the middle of summer, but if you ask a teacher, summer is basically over once the fireworks of the 4th of July stop. Now is when the mental countdown begins, the school supplies start appearing, and everyone starts pretending August is not right around the corner. So as we step into this “almost-not-summer-anymore” stretch, I want to encourage you not to let the busyness of the season pull you away from gathering with the church.
This Sunday, we have the privilege of welcoming Brother Mark Weible from our Association as our special guest preacher. Mark has a deep love for Christ, for the local church, and for the work of the gospel in our area. I am thankful he will be opening God’s Word with you while I am away, and I hope you will come ready to encourage him, worship together, and hear what the Lord has for us.
Please be praying for Mark as he prepares to preach, for our church family as we gather, and for Teresa and me as we travel. I love you all, I am thankful for you, and I look forward to being back with you soon.
Upcoming Events
Men’s and Ladies Breakfasts – This Saturday, July 11th at 9am
Our monthly Men’s and Ladies Breakfasts are coming up this Saturday (a.k.a. tomorrow!), July 11 at 9am.
The men will meet at the church, where there will almost certainly be more breakfast meat consumed than any doctor would officially recommend. But more importantly, we will open God’s Word together and encourage one another as we seek to grow as godly men who follow Christ faithfully in our homes, church, and community.
Meanwhile, the ladies will gather at the Sexton’s house for a wonderful morning of food, fellowship, prayer, and encouragement. There may be quiche involved, which already sounds much more refined than whatever is happening at the men’s breakfast, but the real joy is the time spent building one another up in Christ.
These monthly breakfasts are simple, meaningful opportunities to connect, laugh, pray, study, and grow together. We would love for you to join us!
Food Pantry Needs
Our cupboards are beginning to look a little bare. If you are able, while you are at the grocery story (or placing your pickup order) please remember to grab a few extra staples for the food pantry. Thank you!
Return to Normal Schedule – Wednesday, July 22nd
We’ve had a nice break from our Wednesday Night Dinners so we could travel and enjoy the Summer, but it is almost time for us to get back to normal.
Back to School Bash – Saturday, August 8th – 9am-Noon
Mark your calendars! During the event, we will also be holding Flag Football evaluations, but the morning will include much more than that. We’ll have food, fun, and a backpack giveaway as we help families get ready for the new school year.
We would love your help making this a blessing to our community. We are collecting new backpacks and school supplies so that we can fill them and give them away during the event. Items like pencils, crayons, notebooks, folders, glue sticks, paper, and other basic classroom supplies would all be appreciated.

A Simple Way to Give Faithfully
Giving is one of the ways we worship the Lord, trust His provision, and support the ministry He has entrusted to our church. Of course, Sunday mornings can be full. Between conversations, children, serving, singing, listening, and getting out the door, it is easy for even good intentions to get crowded out. Through our online giving page, you can give a one-time gift or set up recurring monthly giving. This helps make generosity a steady and prayerful rhythm. Thank you for giving faithfully, generously, and joyfully as we seek to glorify Christ, cultivate holiness, and love generously together.

The Bridge
Following Jesus was never meant to be a private hobby. Last week we saw Jesus call His first disciples, He did not simply invite them to admire Him from a distance or add a little religion to their already busy lives. He called them to leave behind the old way of life and come after Him. “Follow me,” He said, “and I will make you become fishers of men” (Mark 1:17).
That is important. Jesus does not merely call disciples to Himself. He also sends disciples out with His mission. To follow Jesus is to be changed by Jesus. We learn His voice. We trust His Word. We walk in His ways. We repent of sin. We grow in holiness. We learn to love what He loves and grieve what He grieves. But that transformation is not meant to stay hidden. The life of Christ in His people is meant to become visible.
Jesus told His disciples, “You are the light of the world” (Matthew 5:14). That is a staggering thing to say. Jesus Himself is the true Light who came into the world, yet He now sends His people into the world as those who reflect His light. The church does not shine because we are impressive, polished, powerful, or popular. We shine because we belong to Christ.

This means the church is not simply a gathering of individuals who are each trying to follow Jesus on their own. We are a people called together by Christ, shaped by Christ, and sent out by Christ. We gather to worship, to hear the Word, to pray, to encourage one another, and to be strengthened by grace. Then we scatter into our homes, workplaces, schools, neighborhoods, and communities as witnesses to the goodness and glory of our King.
In a dark world, the church is called to shine. Not with arrogance. Not with outrage. Not with self-righteousness. But with truth, love, holiness, mercy, and good works that point beyond us to our Father in heaven.
So as we move from the call to follow Jesus into the call to shine as His church, let’s remember this: discipleship is never disconnected from mission. Jesus calls us to Himself, changes us by His grace, and then places us in the world as a living testimony that the kingdom of God has come near.

Sunday Morning Bible Study and Worship
Sundays at 9:30am is our Bible Study hour. From children to adults, each class is focused on helping us grow in understanding of God’s word and encouraging one another to live out our faith.
Then at 10:45am, we come together for corporate worship as one body. Our aim is simple: to humble ourselves before the throne of Jesus our King and to joyfully worship Him side by side as families. Kids and adults all share in this time as we sit under the same truth and fix our eyes on Christ together.
Breaking Bread Groups
Throughout the week, we gather in homes to discuss God’s Word and to pray for each other as we do life together. We currently have groups that meet on Sunday afternoons, as well as Tuesday and Thursday nights. If you are interested in joining or starting a group, please talk to someone in leadership.
At Redeemer Baptist Church our mission is to Glorify Jesus by Growing in Holiness and Loving Generously. Please leave a quick Google review and like or follow us on social media. It’s a small thing that helps more people in our community find us.
