What’s Happening – June 19, 2026

Here is your friendly reminder that this Sunday is Father’s Day! Back in the day, we showed dads appreciation by calling him collect and asking him to accept the charges. Today, we might show appreciation by “sharing” his Netflix account. Don’t forget to call, text, or raid his garage for tools this weekend! Also, don’t forget to return your baby bottles for the Tri-County Pregnancy Center’s Baby Bottle boomerang.

Of course, Father’s Day is about far more than dad jokes, tools, sports, and thermostat settings. For some, it is a sweet day of gratitude. For others, it stirs up grief, absence, regret, disappointment, or longing. Some miss their dads. Some wish the relationship had been different. Some men quietly ache because they wanted to be husbands and fathers, but that has not been the story God has written so far.

So as we honor fathers this Sunday, we do so with both joy and tenderness. Earthly fathers are a good gift, but even the best fathers are imperfect. Our deepest hope is not in having had the perfect father or being the perfect father, but in knowing the Father who gives every good and perfect gift. In Christ, we are brought near to the Father who never fails, never forgets, never leaves, and never stops giving grace to His children.

Upcoming Events

Mission:Dignity Sunday – June 28th

Mission:Dignity is a ministry of GuideStone that helps care for retirement-aged Southern Baptist ministers, church workers, and widows who faithfully served the Lord and His churches, but now find themselves facing real financial need.

Many of these faithful servants spent their lives preaching the Word, teaching children, visiting the sick, serving small churches, encouraging the saints, and laboring quietly for the kingdom. Some served in places where the salary was small, the needs were great, and retirement savings were hard to come by. Mission:Dignity gives us an opportunity to honor them, encourage them, and help meet practical needs in the name of Christ.

Next Sunday, we will highlight this ministry and take up a special offering and we invite you to give as the Lord leads. This is one simple way we can remember those who have spent their lives remembering the church.

Stars and Stripes Forever Parade – July 3rd at 5pm

The City of Williston will have its Independence Day parade on July 3rd at 5pm. Brother Joe has agreed to drive Big Blue in the parade and I’d love to have a bunch of us walking the parade route passing out candy and flyers for the Upward Football league.

Business Meeting – Sunday, July 5th at 6pm

Our next business meeting will be on Sunday, July 5th at 6pm. We will cover our normal financial reports, vote on new members, and continue to look at revisions to our constitution and bylaws.

Online Giving

It’s easy for even the best intentions to get lost in the busyness of a Sunday morning, and sometimes what we planned to give simply slips through the cracks. One simple way to stay consistent in worshipful generosity is to give online through Redeemer Baptist Church online giving page, where you can give one time or set up monthly recurring donations. This allows your giving to remain faithful and intentional, not dependent on the distractions of a given week, but rooted in a steady rhythm of trust and stewardship as you support the work God is doing through our church.

The Bridge

Last Sunday we met John the Baptist in the wilderness. John was not polished, comfortable, or self-important. He was a voice crying out in the wilderness, calling people to repentance and preparing the way of the Lord. His whole ministry was like a finger pointing away from himself and toward someone greater.

He knew water could not wash the heart clean. He knew repentance was necessary, but he also knew repentance itself was not enough unless God acted in mercy. So John preached, baptized, warned, and called people to prepare. But the heart of his message was simple: “After me comes he who is mightier than I.”

This week, we see that mightier One step onto the scene.

Mark 1:9-13 takes us from John’s ministry to Jesus’ baptism and temptation. Jesus comes to the Jordan River and is baptized by John. That should surprise us. John’s baptism was a baptism of repentance. People came confessing their sins, publicly identifying themselves as those who needed God’s mercy, cleansing, forgiveness, and Spirit. But Jesus had no sins to confess. He did not need a sinner’s baptism any more than He deserved a sinner’s death. Yet He stepped into the water anyway.

Why? Because Jesus came to identify Himself with His people. He came to stand where sinners stand, not because He shared our sin, but because He came to bear it. He came near to us in our weakness, our need, our temptation, and eventually even our death. Mark does not tell us the story of Jesus’ birth or call Him Immanuel, but Mark shows us that Jesus lived as Immanuel. He is God with us.

But that is not the whole story. As soon as Jesus comes up from the water, the heavens are torn open, the Spirit descends upon Him like a dove, and the Father declares, “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.” Jesus comes down into the water with sinners, but heaven announces that He is no mere sinner. He is the beloved Son. He is the Spirit-anointed Christ. He is the One John said would baptize with the Holy Spirit.

That is the wonder of Jesus. He comes all the way down to be with us, but He never stops being God over us. His humility does not erase His glory. His humanity does not cancel His deity. His nearness does not make Him small.

So come Sunday ready to behold the One John pointed toward. John was the voice. Jesus is the Word. John prepared the way. Jesus is the Way. Jesus is God with us in the water and the wilderness. Jesus is God over us in the water and the wilderness. And that is very good news for weak, tempted, needy sinners like us.

You can also find a collection of resources for the class here.

Wednesday Night Services will Resume on July 22!

Sunday Morning Bible Study and Worship

Sundays at 9:30am is our Bible Study hour. From children to adults, each class is focused on helping us grow in understanding of God’s word and encouraging one another to live out our faith.

Then at 10:45am, we come together for corporate worship as one body. Our aim is simple: to humble ourselves before the throne of Jesus our King and to joyfully worship Him side by side as families. Kids and adults all share in this time as we sit under the same truth and fix our eyes on Christ together.

Breaking Bread Groups

Throughout the week, we gather in homes to discuss God’s Word and to pray for each other as we do life together. We currently have groups that meet on Sunday afternoons and Thursday nights. If you are interested in joining or starting a group, please talk to someone in leadership.
