What’s Happening – June 26, 2026
Before we talk about anything happening in the life of our church this week, I want to ask you to pause and pray for the people of Venezuela. Wednesday night, Venezuela was struck by two massive earthquakes back to back, leaving families grieving, communities shaken, buildings collapsed, and many people still waiting for rescue, help, and answers. Moments like this remind us how fragile life is and how desperately we need the mercy of God.
As followers of Jesus, we do not look at suffering from a distance with cold hearts. We grieve with those who grieve. We pray for those who are hurting. We ask the Lord to strengthen the weary, comfort the brokenhearted, protect those still in danger, and guide the hands of rescue workers, doctors, churches, and neighbors who are serving in the middle of devastation.
We should also pray that, in the darkness of this tragedy, God would cause the light of the gospel to shine brightly. Pray that the local churches in Venezuela would be strengthened to love their neighbors with courage and compassion. Pray that doors would open for help, healing, and hope. Pray that many would find refuge not only from the destruction around them, but in Christ Himself, who is our ever-present help in trouble.

This Sunday is also Mission:Dignity Sunday. This is a special opportunity to care for retired pastors, missionaries, and their widows who spent their lives serving churches and now find themselves in financial need. Many of these faithful servants labored for years in small churches, often with little pay and no retirement plan. This offering gives us a practical way to honor them, encourage them, and help meet real needs in Jesus’ name.
So please come prepared to give this Sunday as the Lord leads. This is not about pressure or guilt. It is simply an opportunity for us to love generously and remember those who have faithfully served Christ and His church. Our church goal is $300.
Next Friday, July 3, we will be participating in the Independence Day Parade in Williston. Redeemer will have a vehicle in the parade, and we will be walking alongside it, passing out candy and flyers for Upward Flag Football. This is a simple but meaningful opportunity to be visible in our community, love our neighbors, and invite families to connect with our church.

Here are two ways you can help: First, we still need candy donated. Individually wrapped candy would be a huge help, and since the parade is only a week away, this Sunday would be a great time to bring some with you. Second, we need to know who is planning to walk or ride with us in the parade. If you are available and willing to help, please let Pastor Logan know as soon as possible so we can plan well. Whether you are walking, riding, waving, handing out candy, or helping with the flyers, we would love to have you with us.
Then, on Sunday, July 5, we will have a short business meeting immediately following the morning worship service. We will vote in new members, review church financials, and discuss a few important matters for the life and health of our church. But for now, enjoy the quieter weekend, pray about giving to Mission:Dignity, bring some candy if you can, and let us know if you are joining us for the parade!
Upcoming Events
Men’s and Ladies Breakfasts – Saturday, July 11th at 9am
Mark your calendars and come hungry! Our monthly Men’s and Ladies Breakfasts are coming up on Saturday, July 11 at 9am.
The men will meet at the church, where there will almost certainly be more breakfast meat consumed than any doctor would officially recommend. But more importantly, we will open God’s Word together and encourage one another as we seek to grow as godly men who follow Christ faithfully in our homes, church, and community.
Meanwhile, the ladies will gather at the Sexton’s house for a wonderful morning of food, fellowship, prayer, and encouragement. There may be quiche involved, which already sounds much more refined than whatever is happening at the men’s breakfast, but the real joy is the time spent building one another up in Christ.
These monthly breakfasts are simple, meaningful opportunities to connect, laugh, pray, study, and grow together. We would love for you to join us!

A Simple Way to Give Faithfully
Giving is one of the ways we worship the Lord, trust His provision, and support the ministry He has entrusted to our church. Of course, Sunday mornings can be full. Between conversations, children, serving, singing, listening, and getting out the door, it is easy for even good intentions to get crowded out.
That is one reason online giving can be such a helpful tool. Through our online giving page, you can give a one-time gift or set up recurring monthly giving. This helps make generosity a steady and prayerful rhythm rather than something that depends on remembering in the middle of a busy weekend. Thank you for giving faithfully, generously, and joyfully as we seek to glorify Christ, cultivate holiness, and love generously together.

The Bridge
Last Sunday, we looked at the baptism and temptation of Jesus. In those scenes, Mark gives us a breathtaking picture of who Jesus is. He is not a distant Savior, untouched by our weakness. He steps down into the waters with sinners. He enters the wilderness where Israel failed. He faces the tempter where we have fallen. He comes near to us in our need.
But He is also not merely one of us. At His baptism, the heavens are torn open, the Spirit descends upon Him, and the Father declares, “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased” (Mark 1:11). In the wilderness, He is with the wild animals, the angels minister to Him, and even the powers of darkness cannot overcome Him. He is with us, but He is also over us. He is the true Son, the Spirit-anointed King, the faithful Israel, and the victorious Savior.
That matters because this week we hear Him speak.

Mark 1:14-15 gives us the first recorded message of Jesus in Mark’s Gospel, and it is not small. Jesus does not come offering mild religious advice. He does not come simply to improve our habits or give us a few principles for better living. He comes announcing that God’s promised kingdom has arrived in Him, and because the kingdom has come near, Jesus calls for a response: “Repent and believe in the gospel.”
Repentance is not simply feeling bad. It is not cleaning ourselves up so God might accept us. Repentance is a turning. It is turning from sin, self-rule, pride, unbelief, and every false kingdom we have tried to build for ourselves. And faith is not vague optimism. It is not religious sentiment. To believe the gospel is to receive the good news that God has come to rescue sinners through Jesus. It is trusting Him, resting in Him, following Him, and staking our whole lives on the mercy and authority of Christ.
So this Sunday, we come to the first proclamation of Jesus in Mark’s Gospel. It is short, but it is thunderous. The time is fulfilled. The kingdom is near. The King has come. Repent and believe the gospel. That is not just the message Jesus preached then. It is the message we still need now.

Sunday Morning Bible Study and Worship
Sundays at 9:30am is our Bible Study hour. From children to adults, each class is focused on helping us grow in understanding of God’s word and encouraging one another to live out our faith.
Then at 10:45am, we come together for corporate worship as one body. Our aim is simple: to humble ourselves before the throne of Jesus our King and to joyfully worship Him side by side as families. Kids and adults all share in this time as we sit under the same truth and fix our eyes on Christ together.
Breaking Bread Groups
Throughout the week, we gather in homes to discuss God’s Word and to pray for each other as we do life together. We currently have groups that meet on Sunday afternoons, as well as Tuesday and Thursday nights. If you are interested in joining or starting a group, please talk to someone in leadership.
At Redeemer Baptist Church our mission is to Glorify Jesus by Growing in Holiness and Loving Generously. Please leave a quick Google review and like or follow us on social media. It’s a small thing that helps more people in our community find us.
