Tell Me More
If you have questions about what it means to trust and follow Jesus, or if you are wondering what your next steps might be, you are in the right place. Faith often begins with questions, and those questions matter. If at any point you feel like you are not finding the answers you are looking for, we would love to talk with you personally. Please feel free to reach out to us. We would be happy to sit down with you in person, speak with you over the phone, or even go back and forth through text or email.
What Does It Mean to Follow Christ?
Following Christ means your life now has a new center. You no longer belong to yourself. You belong to God, and your life is meant to reflect His glory. This is not about becoming perfect or having everything figured out. It is about trusting Jesus with who you are and where your life is going.
Our Sin
The Bible teaches that every one of us is born with a sinful nature. Because of sin, we are separated from God and unable to restore that relationship on our own. Sin is not just something we do. It is something that has shaped us from the inside.
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
Romans 3:23 (ESV)
God’s Gift
God did not leave us stuck in our sin. We cannot earn forgiveness or work our way back to Him, so God gave forgiveness as a gift. Jesus lived the life we could not live and gave His life as a sacrifice so that we could be forgiven and restored to God.
“But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 5:8 (ESV)
“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 6:23 (ESV)
Our Response
God offers forgiveness freely, but it must be received. We respond by turning to Jesus in faith, trusting Him as Lord, and believing that God raised Him from the dead. This is not about cleaning yourself up first. It is about placing your trust in Christ and committing your life to Him.
“If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
Romans 10:9 (ESV)
A Symbol of Your Faith: Baptism
Baptism does not save you, but it is a powerful and meaningful step of obedience after you have trusted Christ. Baptism shows others that you have been made new. It pictures your old life being buried and your new life beginning because of your faith in Jesus. It is a public celebration of what God has already done in your heart.
“We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.”
Romans 6:4 (ESV)
How Do I Grow in My Faith?
Spiritual growth does not happen by accident. God desires a real relationship with you, and He has given us clear ways to grow in knowing Him and becoming more like Jesus.
Read the Bible
The Bible is God’s Word and the primary way He teaches, corrects, and guides us. Reading Scripture helps us understand who God is and how He calls us to live. If you do not own a Bible, we would love to give you one. You can also download a Bible app and follow a reading plan to help you begin.
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
Psalm 119:105 (ESV)
“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.”
2 Timothy 3:16 (ESV)
Make Prayer Part of Your Day
Prayer is simply talking to God. It is how we bring our needs, fears, gratitude, and hopes to Him. God invites us to rely on Him in every situation.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”
Philippians 4:6 (ESV)
Worship
Worship is giving God the honor He deserves. We worship when we pray, sing, serve, and live lives of gratitude and obedience. Worship is not limited to a church service. It is a way of life shaped by recognizing God’s goodness and grace.
“Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; worship the LORD in the splendor of holiness.”
Psalm 29:2 (ESV)
What’s My Next Step?
Just like any relationship, growing closer to God requires time, commitment, and involvement with others. Simply attending church is a start, but God invites us into something deeper.
Connect
We are not meant to follow Jesus alone. God uses relationships within the church to encourage us, teach us, and help us persevere in faith.
“And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.”
Acts 2:42 (ESV)
Give
Giving our time, abilities, and resources is an act of trust and worship. God uses generosity to shape our hearts and to care for others through His church.
“Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house… says the LORD of hosts.”
Malachi 3:10 (ESV)
Share
When God changes your life, it is natural to want others to know. Sharing your faith does not mean having all the answers. It means telling others what God has done for you and inviting them to see for themselves.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations…”
Matthew 28:19–20 (ESV)
Serve
God created every believer with purpose. Serving is not about filling a role. It is about using the gifts God has given you to love others and build up His church. We would love to help you find a place to serve that fits the way God has made you.
If you are ready to take a next step, or if you still have questions, we would love to walk with you. You are always welcome at Redeemer Baptist Church, and we are grateful you are here.
