What’s Happening – May 1, 2026

As we step into May, our calendars begin to fill with meaningful moments. There is much to celebrate. Mother’s Day invites us to give thanks for the women who have loved, sacrificed, and nurtured us. Memorial Day calls us to remember and honor those who have laid down their lives in service to our country. Graduation season gives us the joy of celebrating hard work, perseverance, and the hopeful future ahead for so many.

These are good gifts. They are worthy of recognition, gratitude, and celebration. As a church family, we want to be people who rejoice in these things well. We want to honor our mothers, support our graduates, and show proper respect to those who have sacrificed for our freedoms. These moments matter, and they should be marked with intentional joy.

At the same time, I want to be clear about something that shapes how we gather on Sundays. When we come together for corporate worship, we are gathering for a specific and sacred purpose. In Acts 2, we see the early church devoted to the apostles’ teaching, to prayer, to the breaking of bread, and to fellowship. This rhythm has guided the church for centuries. When we gather, we are not coming primarily to celebrate one another, but to fix our eyes on Christ. We come to hear His Word, to pray together, to remember His sacrifice, and to encourage one another in the faith.

Because of that, we believe Sunday morning is not the right time or place to center our gatherings around cultural or seasonal celebrations, even good ones. Not because those things lack value, but because they are not ultimate. Our time together is set apart to glorify Jesus and to be formed by His Word. In a world that constantly pulls our attention in a hundred directions, we want our worship to remain focused and undistracted, anchored in what is eternal.

That does not mean we ignore these important moments. We encourage you to celebrate them fully and joyfully outside of our Sunday gathering. Bring your mom to church, sit under the Word together, worship Christ side by side, and then go take her out to lunch and celebrate her well. Attend graduation parties, write encouraging notes, and pray intentionally for those stepping into new seasons. Participate in community events that honor the meaning of Memorial Day and take time to reflect with gratitude and humility.

And as a church, we will create space for shared celebration in ways that fit who we are. We would love for you to join us for Fifth Friday Family Fun Night on May 29th, where there will be plenty of room for laughter, connection, and celebration together. Then, on Fifth Sunday, May 31st, we will rejoice together as we see believers baptized and enjoy a time of food and fellowship. These are beautiful opportunities to celebrate what God is doing among us while also enjoying one another as a church family. It will be a natural and joyful time to honor moms, dads, and graduates together.

At the end of the day, our aim is simple. We exist to glorify Jesus. Every time we gather, we want Him to be at the center. We want His Word to shape us, His gospel to sustain us, and His presence to unite us. So come ready to worship. Come ready to hear. Come ready to pray. And then go out and celebrate the good gifts God has given with full hearts and open hands. There is a time for everything. And when we gather on Sundays, we are setting aside time for what matters most.

Upcoming Events

Business Meeting – This Sunday, May 3rd at 6pm

Business Meetings often feel formal or unexciting, but they are actually an important part of our life together. They give us the opportunity to celebrate God’s work, affirm new members, and seek wisdom as we plan for the future of our church.

We would love for you to join us for our next meeting This Sunday, May 3rd at 6pm. Your presence matters, and this is one of the ways we walk together as a church family.

Men’s and Ladies Breakfasts – Saturday, May 9th at 9am

Once a month, we gather for a good breakfast, real conversation, and time in God’s Word together. No pressure, no pretending, just a chance to slow down, be encouraged, and grow alongside others who are walking the same road. Come hungry, leave encouraged. Men will meet in the Fellowship Hall at the church while Ladies will meet at the Gray’s house.

The Bridge

Last week, we saw so clearly that God does not just give second chances from a distance. He walks with His people through them. He does not lower the calling or change the mission, but He meets us in our weakness and promises His presence as we take the next step of obedience.

And that is what makes Jonah’s obedience in chapter 3 so powerful. This is not the story of a polished prophet finally getting it right. This is the story of a man still learning to trust, but now walking in the direction God has called him. Step by step, day by day, Jonah moves toward Nineveh, not because he has everything figured out, but because he has learned that the God who pursued him in the depths will be with him on the road.

And here is where the story takes a turn that no one would have expected. God takes that simple, imperfect obedience and uses it to spark one of the greatest movements of repentance the world has ever seen. A reluctant prophet with a short message walks into a wicked city, and the entire place is shaken. From the greatest to the least, people turn, humble themselves, and cry out for mercy. It is a reminder that the power was never in Jonah. It was never about his eloquence, his passion, or his readiness. It was always about the God who saves.

And that is the same God at work today. He is still taking ordinary, hesitant obedience and using it in extraordinary ways. He is still calling people who feel unqualified, still working through weakness, still bringing life where there was none. Which means the question before us is not whether we are strong enough, ready enough, or worthy enough. The question is whether we will trust Him enough to take the next step, knowing that the same God who meets us in our second chances is the God who brings about repentance, renewal, and glory for His name.

Weekly Life Together

Wednesday Night Dinner, Kids, and Prayer

Join us each Wednesday evening as we gather for a shared family meal and time together.

Sunday Morning Bible Study and Worship

Sundays at 9:30 is our Bible Study hour. From children to adults, each class is focused on helping us grow in understanding of God’s word and encouraging one another to live out our faith.

Then at 10:45, we come together for corporate worship as one body. Our aim is simple: to humble ourselves before the throne of Jesus our King and to joyfully worship Him side by side as families. Kids and adults all share in this time as we sit under the same truth and fix our eyes on Christ together.

Breaking Bread Groups

Throughout the week, we gather in homes to discuss God’s Word and to pray for each other as we do life together. We currently have groups that meet on Sunday afternoons and Thursday nights. If you are interested in joining or starting a group, please talk to someone in leadership.
